The Bravery level shows what kind of clothes a playable character will wear at that time. For instance, a shirt with a bravery rating of 90 could not be worn by Neku if he had a bravery rating of only 50. Bravery can be increased by eating certain foods.
Clothes don't normally have to match the gender of the player. If you want to play around with (and pay for) it, you can have Joshua or Beat wear fluffy pink clothes!
